So I accidentally overstayed my visa by 3 days. Here's what happened.

Not my proudest moment but sharing in case it helps someone else.

I miscalculated the 240-hour thing. Thought I had until Sunday night but turns out the clock started the day AFTER entry, which I knew, but I just... messed up the math? Don't ask.

Anyway, showed up at the airport Monday morning. Immigration officer looked at my stamp, looked at me, called someone over. Heart was racing ngl.

They took me to a side office. Asked why. I explained honestly — just got the dates wrong. Showed them my flight bookings (which were clearly not intentional overstay, since I had an onward ticket for the right day but just... didn't leave).

End result: ¥1,500 fine. Paid on the spot. Got stamped out. No ban, no drama, no detention. Total time: 45 minutes.

What I learned:
• Overstay fines are ¥500/day. Mine was exactly 3 days = ¥1,500.
• Being honest and polite goes a long way.
• Having proof you had a real flight out helps.
• They see this ALL the time. You're not the first idiot.

Just... don't be me. Set a phone reminder for day 9.

Anyone else messed up their visa dates? Please tell me I'm not alone.
