I found a village with no tourists and I almost don't want to tell you where it is

Okay I'll tell you. But promise you won't turn it into the next Instagram hotspot.

The place:
Xijiang Miao Village in Guizhou. About 3 hours from Guiyang by bus.

Why it's special:
• It's a real village where people actually LIVE, not a Disney-fied tourist park
• The wooden stilt houses climb up a hillside and the view at dawn is unreal
• Miao women still wear traditional silver headdresses for festivals
• There's a daily morning market where locals sell vegetables, meat, and handmade crafts
• I paid ¥80/night for a guesthouse run by a local family. Included dinner.

What there ISN'T:
• English menus
• Tourist shops selling mass-produced junk
• Crowds (I saw maybe 10 other foreigners in 3 days)
• WiFi in most places (I consider this a feature)

How to get there:
Bus from Guiyang East Bus Station. Buy ticket at counter, show them "西江千户苗寨" written on your phone. Bus drops you at the village entrance.

The catch:
It's getting more popular. The main entrance now has a ticket booth (¥90). Still worth it, but go soon before it changes.

Honest warning:
It's not luxury. Your guesthouse will have a squat toilet. The shower will be lukewarm. The roosters will wake you up at 5 AM.

But you'll have conversations with people who've never met a foreigner before. You'll eat food cooked over a wood fire. You'll see stars because there's almost no light pollution.

That's the stuff that stays with you.

Anyone else found a hidden gem in China? Share it — or don't, I get it.
