The one thing that makes Shenzhen feel totally different from other Chinese cities

I've been to most major Chinese cities. Shenzhen feels... off. In a good way.

It's not the skyscrapers — Shanghai has those.
It's not the tech — Beijing has that too.
It's the average age.

Shenzhen's median age is 32. THIRTY-TWO.

What this means:
• Coffee shop culture is REAL
• People wear hoodies and sneakers to work
• Nightlife starts at 10 PM
• Everyone talks about startups and AI
• English is common because of international business

The downside:
It can feel shallow. No ancient temples. No historic neighborhoods. No "this building has been here for 500 years." It's all glass and steel and 5 years old.

My take:
If you want traditional China, go to Xi'an or Beijing.
If you want to see where China is GOING, go to Shenzhen.

Which do you prefer — old China or new China?
