240-hour transit just got 5 new ports in Guangdong — here's the updated list
Update from November 2025:The NIA (National Immigration Administration) quietly expanded the 240-hour visa-free transit scheme. We went from 60 ports to 65 ports.
The 5 new additions:
• Guangzhou Baiyun Airport
• Zhuhai Hengqin port
• Zhongshan port
• Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge
• West Kowloon Station (Guangzhou-Shenzhen-HK Express Rail)
What this means in practice: if you're flying into Hong Kong and want to explore the Pearl River Delta, you now have way more flexibility.
Current numbers at a glance (May 2026):
• 55 countries eligible for 240-hour transit
• 65 ports across 24 provinces
• 50 countries eligible for full 30-day visa-free entry
• 30.08 million foreigners entered visa-free in 2025
A detail that matters:
Since November 20, 2025, you can fill out your arrival card online before landing. Less paper. Less queue time.
Also — and this surprised me — the target is 50 million visa-free arrivals by 2027. They're actively competing with Japan and Thailand for tourism.
For anyone planning a trip: this is the easiest it's ever been.
Has anyone used the new Guangdong ports yet? How was the experience?
