Everyone talks about culture shock when you ARRIVE. Nobody talks about the culture shock when you LEAVE.

The Last Month:
You start saying goodbye to places. Your regular breakfast spot. The metro station you hated but now feel weirdly attached to. The park where you always ran. Each "last time" hits harder than you expect.

The Reverse Culture Shock:

You get home and everything is... the same. But you're different.

• People complain about traffic. You've seen worse.
• People think China is "exotic." You know it's just... life.
• You miss the convenience of delivery apps.
• You miss walking everywhere.
• You miss the chaos, somehow.

The Things You Can't Explain:

• Why you instinctively bow slightly when receiving change
• Why you check your phone 50 times a day for WeChat messages
• Why you crave hot pot at 2 AM
• Why you feel nostalgic for a squat toilet (okay, maybe not that one)

Staying Connected:

• Keep your WeChat — it's your lifeline to everyone
• Plan a return trip within a year (or you never will)
• Find local Chinese communities in your home country
• Cook Chinese food. Badly. It helps.

The Truth:
China doesn't leave you. It becomes part of your story. Even the frustrating parts become funny stories later.

If you've left China, what do you miss most? If you're still here, what do you think you'll miss?
