Just spent 4 hours in the PEK T3 Priority Pass lounge and needed to share my disappointment.
What I expected:
Comfy chairs, decent food, quiet workspace, maybe a shower.
What I got:
• Chairs that look like they're from a 1990s dentist office
• Instant noodles, dry buns, and orange juice from concentrate
• A "business center" with one broken computer and a printer from 2005
• SO MANY PEOPLE. Like, standing room only.
• No shower. Not even a nap room.
Comparison:
Shanghai Pudong Priority Pass lounge was slightly better — actual hot food, less crowded. Still not amazing.
Guangzhou Baiyun? Actually decent. Small but clean, good dim sum, manageable crowds.
Shenzhen Bao'an? Don't bother. Just go to one of the restaurants.
The real issue:
China's domestic lounges (airline-operated) are WAY better than Priority Pass. If you have status on Air China, China Eastern, etc., use those instead.
My new strategy:
Skip the lounge, find a quiet restaurant with WiFi, order a coffee, and work there. Better food, better atmosphere, and you don't have to fight 50 businessmen for the last power outlet.
Anyone found a actually good lounge in China? Domestic or international? |
